Sulphuric Acid Production Plant

Process units
The roasting and sulphuric acid plant consists of several
basic process flow lines, distributed in four units:
- Roasting
- Sulphuric Acid
- Neutralization and Cooling Cycles
- Steam Production and Water Demineralization
The Roasting Unit operates with a fluid bed roaster and the Sulphuric
Acid Unit uses double catalysis – double absorption system (DCDA
system).
Lurgi’s modern
system for zinc concentrates roasting and sulphuric acid production
from process gases is characterized by its high specific efficiency,
compactness, effective utilization of the heat from the hot roaster
gases and flexibility as concerns stopping and start up of the different
installations and decreasing the hazardous emissions within the
standard limits. For the purpose of the utilization of the heat
from the gases there is a boiler installed directly after the fluid
bed roaster.
The DCDA system in the Sulphuric Acid Plant ensures a decreased
SO2 content in the waste gases to a level below 500 mg/nm3
which guarantees keeping of the most rigorous standard limits of
concentration in the waste gases emitted to the atmosphere.
The equipment and process flow diagram of the installations for
zinc concentrates roasting, gas cleaning and sulphuric acid system
are designed by Lurgi.
The processes in the Roasting and Sulphuric Acid Plant are controlled
by DCS (Distributive Control System) in the Control Room. The four
operation stations ensure a complete supervision of the equipment.
