Presentation

Zinc production at KCM S.A. is carried out under a classical hydrometallurgical technology and it includes:

  • Oxide roasting of sulphide zinc concentrates;
  • Double-staged neutral and acid leaching of the zinc calcine;
  • Purification of zinc sulphate solutions from impurities;
  • Electroextraction;
  • Cathode zinc melting;
  • Casting into zinc ingots.

The sulphuric gases from the roasting process are treated to obtain sulphuric acid under a modern technology with double-staged contacting and double absorption.

The insoluble residues after the wet leaching of the zinc calcine are treated in Waelz kilns.

The final zinc calcine leaching results in obtaining 96.50 - 97.00% zinc.
