Presentation

Zinc production at KCM S.A. is carried out under a classical hydrometallurgical
technology
and it includes:
- Oxide roasting of sulphide zinc concentrates;
- Double-staged neutral and acid leaching of the zinc calcine;
- Purification of zinc sulphate solutions from impurities;
- Electroextraction;
- Cathode zinc melting;
- Casting into zinc ingots.
The sulphuric gases from the roasting process are treated to obtain
sulphuric acid under a modern technology with double-staged contacting
and double absorption.
The insoluble residues after the wet leaching of the zinc calcine
are treated in Waelz kilns.
The final zinc calcine leaching results in obtaining 96.50 - 97.00%
zinc.
