ABSTRACT

The alloys of the family known as ZA alloys are now well established and are used to fill special needs, for instance, where better bearing properties, strength and creep resistance are needed.
As producer KCM - S.A. strive to raise not only the quality of the zinc alloys from its production list but also to expand their range and to reach best technical and economical characteristics at the same time.
This paper describe the tests carried out in KCM - S.A. for implementation of ZA alloy production including:

• process equipment;
• test conditions;
• process steps of receiving ZA alloys;
• technical parameters obtained during tests;
• data of chemical and technical properties of the alloys obtained;
• metalographic analysis.

Description of the production of a trial lot of 20 t ZA 12 alloy, based on the test data are also available.
